minute in the life of Robert Moses Beach
Taken with the video camera on the iPhone.
Did I mention that I’m really loving the new iPhone?
I have seen a couple other videos like this, so I decided to document my own outings and experiences.
Yesterday it finally stopped raining, it feels like it rained for 40 straight days and nights. So we took advantage of the sun and headed to Robert Moses beach. We did not stay long but I was able to get this video.
more iphone

I can’t wait for “copy+paste”, finally arriving in 2 days.
Here are some iphone wallpapers.
i have been meaning to put these up for a while now.

Make my logo lower case

Well something that me and my friends have recently talked about was in the weekend edition of The New York Times.
The article talks about the hot new trend for big corporations is the redesigning of their logos and or packaging.
Everyone wants to seem like they’re real nice and considerate.
using lower case, green leaf, rounded typefaces = friendly
I can hear all the marketing directors saying “no, make the logo greener“.
New World Water
We just gave up the the poland spring water bottles for the reusable ones.
But for the people that are too lazy or don’t have the time to refill their own bottles here is another option.
Hopefully it gets to New York soon.
Great idea. Plus the design of the box is pretty fresh.
Mike Mo Graphic
Last week Savita, posted about spec work and what is now known as “crowdsourcing”. While i totally agree with her stance, and feel that there is is something fundamentally wrong with the whole process. I have to admit that i had to learn the harsh realities all on my own.
Last year when i first read about crowdSpring, i quickly went to the website and created an account and i started working on various logos right away. For some reason I was really excited at the idea of making some extra money and be able to get some “practice”.
Luckily I think i realized pretty quickly that people were biting my submissions. Which was the most painful thing about the whole experience. Other “creatives” stealing your designs and resubmitting with the changes that the client asked for. wackness.
I haven’t worked on a project in a long time.

With all that, here is my submission to one design contest i can get behind. The Girl Skateboard Co. had a contest to design a skateboard graphic for one of their Pro riders, Mike Mo Capaldi. I totally support and back this company 100% as they have one of the best teams around in addition to being a skateboarder owned company.
Skateboard graphics is something i’m really into and love. I can only hope that one day something i create gets put on a board.
While i’m talking about skate graphics make sure you check out this book, i already ordered my copy from amazon- I can’t wait till it arrives.
Here is the process of the graphics;

Here is a crest that i was working on for another idea, that never really panned out.
i think this came out pretty good also.

Central Park Boathouse

This was done in collaboration with the wife once again. Laurie got a job to do a wedding save the date.
They’re getting married at the Loeb Boathouse and they wanted a fun, simple illustration.
This is what we came up with.
I did the illustration and Laurie did the layout.
From what Laurie keeps telling me, its that there are other brides requesting this illustration for their save the dates and wedding invitations.

At the end of 2007 Chamberlain Records asked me to do the design layout for a 4 page digipak.
I’m not sure what happened to the actual release, as these guys aren’t even on the label’s roster any longer.
I was only given the front cover, i think one of the members of the band painted it. I didn’t know what the band sounded like, but i think they might be nu-metal by the looks of the art and some of the members.
I tried to work in the painterly-splatter-blood-cardboard look. At the time i was pretty pleased with the outcome.

Oak Park Elementary

I worked on some T-Shirt ideas for my old elementary school. I have a friend that teaches second grade there now.
I was asked to come up with some concepts for their annual t-shirt, they use the shirts to raise money for school trips and other events for the kids.
I tried to go with a more typographic treatment to these shirts, but perhaps I went a little too far. I never heard back if they were getting printed up or not.
Here are a few of the ideas that I submitted.
Stakes is high

Another iphone wallpaper, text is taken from one of my favorite songs of all time.
I figured i’d give these lyrics a home on my iphone.
The words are still powerful today, this is pretty much how i feel about radio hip hop.
From the 1996 classic album Stakes is High by De La Soul.
This song is produced by the legendary Jay Dee.
PWD

We just shot these today for one of our clients. I think they’re coming out pretty good.
There are a ton of pictures to sift through.
